JAMMU, Nov 13: The residents of Sharda Colony, Saraswati Vihar, Patoli Brahmana are facing acute water scarcity for last over five days.
The residents today said that despite taking the issue with the concerned authorities they failed to restore the water supply to the area. They said even on the holy festival of Diwali no steps were taken by the concerned authorities to restore the water supply which has led to the resentment among the people of the area.
They said that the people are facing this problem repeatedly in the area due to breakdown of the motor. “Our request of keeping another motor at standby has never been considered by the authorities of the Department with the result people are made to suffer’’, the residents said.
They said even Department during the breakdown of the motor does not arrange the water tankers to supply the water to the residents in the locality and people have to purchase the water through private tankers on exorbitant rates.
Demanding immediate restoration of water supply to the locality the residents warned to come to streets in case the water supply was not resumed by tomorrow.
