Sham presents awards to 400 employees

Minister for Health, Sham Lal Sharma giving award to medical fraternity at Annual Award Ceremony on Thursday.

SRINAGAR, Oct 25: Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture Sham Lal Sharma today presented awards to about 400 employees of medical fraternity at an Annual Award Ceremony held at Government Dental College, Srinagar.
The awards were presented to the employees for providing best health services especially during the Haj, Yatra times and to the common people. The awardees include CMOs, BMOs, Para Medical Staff members, Safai Karamcharies and ambulance drivers.
He said the awards are the acknowledgement of the hard work of the employees and dedication towards serving people particularly those who performed during  Shri Amarnath yatra at difficult terrains and high altitudes like Magaguns, Pisotop, Sheshnag, Baltal and at the holy cave. He also referred the great services of those Doctors and Paramedical Staff who rendered their services during Haj Pilgrimage to keep intending Haji’s healthy, fit and sound.
The function was attended by Secretary Health, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Principal, Govt. Dental College, Srinagar Dr. Riyaz Farooq Shah, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, Mission Director, NRHM, Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Director Family Planning, Dr. T.K Moza, Director, ISM, Dr. Kabir, Project Director AIDS Control Programme, J&K  besides of Deputy Directors, CMOs, BMOs and other medical staff.
The Minister said that despite facing great challenges, we made every effort to put in place the work culture system on track which was defunct due to uncertain circumstances and by the grace of God and collective efforts of the whole medical fraternity, Directorate of Health Services with other sister agencies like NRHM, ISM and Family Welfare, the system once again has started yielding good results at the ground level. He said despite shortage of resources and lack of work force, figures at number one in providing medical facilities to the common people throughout country.
Referring to the accommodation problem of the Doctors and Para Medical Staff, he said that newly coming up health institutions would have provision of residential facilities.
The Minister also released a newsletter “Kashmir Health Line” which is about various activities of the health sector.
Among the awardees where, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Mission Director NRHM, Director Family Welfare, Director ISM, Project Director Aids Control, Meena Foundation, PHFI, ICRC, Innovative Committee(KRICH), JLNM, Hospital and Best District Award was given to Kupwara district.
