JAMMU, Nov 17: MLA Jammu North, Sham Lal Sharma, today laid the foundation stone for an Overhead Water Tank at Panchayat Kot Lower Ghari (B), a project estimated to cost Rs 50 lakh.
This major initiative is set to provide clean, reliable and adequate drinking water to the residents, addressing a long-pending demand and bringing significant relief to households facing persistent water scarcity. Once completed, the project will ensure a consistent and safe supply of potable water, marking a crucial developmental step for the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Sham Lal Sharma emphasized that this project is fully aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Har Ghar Nal Se Jal”-clean and safe drinking water for every household. He reiterated that Jammu North is committed to achieving this mission, and substantial efforts are being made to strengthen water supply infrastructure across the constituency so that every family benefits from improved and sustainable access to drinking water.
He further highlighted that the overall development of Jammu North remains his top priority, with important civic sectors such as water supply, road connectivity, electricity, and healthcare being strengthened through a mission-oriented approach. Multiple developmental works related to irrigation, rural connectivity, and public amenities are already underway in several panchayats.
Sharma instructed the concerned officials to ensure strict quality control, use of approved materials, and proper technical supervision throughout the construction of the water tank. He stressed that transparency, accountability, and timely completion are essential for the successful execution of all public projects.
Officers from the Jal Shakti (PHE) Department, including Sandeep (AEE, PHE Division Kandi-Ist) and AE Ashish Sharma were present at the ceremony. Also in attendance were former sarpanch Hari Sharan, district president Kisan Morcha Rakesh Singh, Mandal president Rohit Verma, other dignitaries and locals from Panchayat Kot Lower Garhi (B).
