JAMMU, June 14: Expressing serious concern over the plights of Rehri Fari walas, who have been relocated by the Jammu Municipal Corporation, former Minister and PCC senior vice-president Sham Lal Sharma today asked the Government to ensure that livelihood of these Rehriwalas is not adversely affected because of the JMC action.
He said this after a deputation of Rehris and Fari Association Jammu  called on him for highlighting their grievances because of  uprooting of their Rehris and Faris by JMC from the area were they had been for the last more than 40 years.
The deputation explained that new zones created on for them,  had  virtually very less or no customers and this has resulted into extreme reduction in sale of their items. With this decision most of them  have no option but to leave the business for obvious reasons.
Sham Lal gave them patient hearing and said that he would take up the matter with the concerned authorities to ensure that  their livelihood is not affected.
“J&K State is known as a Welfare State because there are no big industrial houses and vast job avenues while  the people are doing small business like Rehris, Faris. The Government should have given thought to the hardships, particularly financial hardships of these Rehriwalas before executing such decision,” he added.
