JAMMU, Dec 11: Janata Dal United (JDU) president J&K, G M Shaheen while expressing serious concern over the problems being faced by Kashmiri migrants has made a fervent appeal to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister, Amit Shah and Lt Governor J&K, Manoj Sinha to look into the pressing issues of displaced Pandits.
Talking to reporters here, today, G M Shaheen said that it is cause of concern that the Kashmir displaced Pandits putting up in Union Capital have not been provided cash relief for last two years and they are facing grave problems. He sought immediate intervention of PM and HM in the matter.
He said the stoic silence maintained by Government over the pressing demands of displaced people from Valley is unfortunate and it is disheartening that they have been used for vote bank politics while their sufferings were not addressed during last 36 years.
Shaheen said the Government should in its foremost duty address the problems of these hapless people who were forced to take refuge in Jammu and other parts of country after turmoil gripped Valley in 1989-90.
He said what can be more horrible than this that the KP youth appointed under PM’s employment package in Valley are facing totally insecure with authorities unable to adjust them in safer areas.
Shaheen said over two years back some of the package employees were targeted by militants and the Government issued clear cut directions to adjust these employees in
secured areas. Despite that the officers at the helm of affairs are harassing them by posting them in far-flung and insecure areas.
Shaheen also took Omar Abdullah Government to task for negating its miss governance by blaming the LG administration. He said if CM has really been deprived of powers he along with his council of ministers should quit and pave way for LG’s rule so that the people don’t suffer on account of mis-governance.
He said since 2019 it is for first time that UT is facing dearth of funds and developmental activities have suffered a lot and Omar Abdullah is trying to hide its shortcomings by blaming LG administration for everything.
