JAMMU, Dec 14: Janta Dal United (JDU) J&K, president, G.M Shaheen here today flayed the poor state of affairs in J&K Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) and held it responsible for the massive decay of government owned tourism infrastructure across the Union Territory.
Shaheen stated that several JKTDC properties located in Gulmarg, Pahalgam and other major hill stations are lying in a dilapidated and neglected condition due to prolonged administrative apathy and the total absence of regular maintenance.
He said that assets worth crores of rupees, created from public exchequer, have been allowed to deteriorate into slum-like structures, reflecting gross mismanagement and institutional failure. The JDU leader termed the situation as reckless squandering of taxpayers’ money and a serious betrayal of public trust.
He urged the LG Administration to take immediate cognizance of the matter, conduct a comprehensive audit of all JKTDC properties, fix accountability and initiate time-bound restoration and ensure professional management.
