JAMMU, Apr 4: BJP National President Amit Shah, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and JKPCC Chief GA Mir have extended congratulations to Mehbooba Mufti on taking over as Chief Minister of J&K.
BJP chief Amit Shah asserted that the party’s alliance Government with PDP in Jammu and Kashmir will take the state to “newer heights”.
“Congratulations to CM Mehbooba Mufti and Deputy CM Nirmal Singh. I am sure the BJP-PDP alliance will take State to newer heights,” he said in a tweet soon after the PDP leader took oath as the first woman Chief Minister of the State.
Finance Minister and senior party leader Arun Jaitley also congratulated Mehbooba.
“Congratulations Mehbooba Mufti ji on being sworn in as the first woman Chief Minister of J&K. I wish the best to BJP-PDP govt in the State,” he said.
Azad, a former J&K Chief Minister, was invited by Mehbooba personally for her oath-taking function but he could not attend it due to prior commitments in Chennai and Assam, his office said in a statement.
Azad, who is currently the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, exuded confidence that Mehbooba will work hard for the welfare of people and progress of the State.
“Congratulations to the new Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti,” Mamta Banerjee tweeted.
President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee G A Mir also extended heartiest congratulations to Mehbooba Mufti on taking over as Chief Minister of the State.
The party has also extended positive and constructive co-operations as a healthy opposition in the State and hoped that the new Government would deliver on the promises made to the people by the two parties during the elections and come upto the expectations of common man , who suffered a lot during the past sometime due to the political instability and uncertainties, owing to inherent contradiction of two coalition partners.
