JAMMU, Dec 5: Jammu Kashmir People’s Forum (JKPF), renowned social and patriotic organisation organised an impressive function at Lawyers Conference Hall at High Court, Jammu for release of Book titled “Village Defence Committees: The Saviour of Jammu and Kashmir” written by Dr. Annu Kotwal.
The book embarked the will and might of the Village Defence Committees in fighting and uprooting the militancy from Jammu and Kashmir and role of VDC’s and VDG’s in preventing the migration of minority community from district Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Poonch and many other areas of Jammu province.
The chief guest of the event was MLA, Kishtwar Shagun Parihar and the guest of honour was Dr S.P. Vaid, retired DGP, J&K Police. The other dignitaries on the dais were vice president of JKPF Raghu Mehta, Senior Advocate, High Court of J&K and Member of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Vikas Sharma, Advocate, Trustee, JKPF and the author of the Book Dr Annu Kotwal and the program was compared by Vandana Mehta, an eminent advocate.
The Program commenced with national anthem followed by Introduction of JKPF by Raghu Mehta and brief introduction regarding the book was given by its author Dr Annu Kotwal.
Parihar, MLA Kishtwar described in detail the role of VDCs as protector and saviour of Jammu and Kashmir State from militancy and the role of brave VDC members and Village Defence Guards including female VDGs who bravely fought the onslaught of militancy and thwarted and frustrated the nefarious designs of anti-national elements backed by Pakistan army for ethnic cleansing from District Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch and many other areas of Jammu province, the event culminated with vote of thanks by Vikas Sharma and national anthem.
