RAMBAN, Jan 20: Election of Beopar Mandal Banihal was held here today and Shadab Wani was elected as new president.
Wani secured 425 votes out of total 875 votes polled and defeated Yasir Malik by a margin of 163 votes. Former Beopar Mandal president Shahnawaz Wani secured 79 votes while 9 votes were rejected.
Earlier last week a notification for nominations and withdrawal was issued and today morning voting was held through secret ballot at Tourist Sarai Banihal. After winning the elections new Beopar Mandal Banihal president, Shadab Wani was garlanded by his supporters.
