SRINAGAR, May 8: Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan today called upon the functionaries of Health Department to bring more transparency and accountability in the working of health institutions for delivering quality health care facilities to the people of the State, adding any negligence in this regard would be viewed seriously.
This was stated by the Health Minister today during his inspection to 50 bedded Unani Hospital Shaltang, Sub District Hospital Pattan and Community Health Center, Kreeri, where he took stock of the health delivery facilities provided to the people by these health institutions. He went round each section of these hospitals, enquired welfare of the indoor patients besides the facilities provided to them by the hospital management.
The Health Minister said that Government has kept available alternate choice of treatment facilities and people should also opt these, as ISM treatment has no side effects.
The Health Minister directed the concerned authorities for ensuring free medicare facilities to pregnant mothers and infants. He directed for displaying diet charts in the hospitals and ensuring proper sanitation facilities in and around the hospitals.
While inspecting Sub District Hospital Pattan, the Minister showed concern over mismanagement of the functioning of various units of the hospital and directed the Director Health Services, Kashmir for taking immediate steps for its improvements. He also instructed for action against 3 pharmacists and 1 nursing orderly for their indiscipline.
The Minister also inspected Rs 7.17 crore under execution 50 bedded Hospital Complex, Pattan and directed concerned authorities to ensure its completion by September this year.
