SRINAGAR, Jan 16: Shab-e-Miraj is being observed with deep religious fervour in Kashmir with night long prayers being held at Masjids across the Valley.
The biggest congregation is being held at Hazratbal shrine and Masjids have been illuminated on the occasion at many places.
The Shab-e-Miraj marks the sacred night commemorating the miraculous ascension (Miraj) of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from Makkah to the heavens.
Devotees across the Valley are spending the night in worship, humility and supplication, seeking mercy, forgiveness and divine blessings.
Large number of people have assembled at Hazratbal where night long prayers are being held.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo and SSP Srinagar Sandeep Chakravarthy have reviewed the arrangements at Hazratbal Shrine and directed all concerned departments, including Power Development, Jal Shakti, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Health Services and Traffic Police, to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply, proper sanitation, medical facilities and smooth traffic regulation.
“All necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and peaceful observance of Shab-e-Miraj, with special focus on the comfort and safety of devotees,” DC Srinagar said.
The J&K Waqf Board has also put in place elaborate arrangements, including deployment of volunteers for crowd management, installation of water tanks, restoration of streetlights and setting up of mobile toilets. The Health Department will station medical teams and ambulances near the shrine to provide round-the-clock medical assistance.
