JAMMU, Feb 5: Serving an ultimatum of one month over their demands, the State Government Employees Joint Action Committee has threatened to gherao the Civil Secretariat at the time of budget presentation in Assembly next month.
The warning was served in the form of a resolution passed during a convention of the SGEJAC, here today.
The convention was held under the presidium of Sushil Sudan, Pardeep Sharma, Subhash Verma, Suresh Sharma, Parshotam Singh Chib, Aijaz Khan, Prem Singh Bawa, Yash Sharma, Magotra and attended by leaders of EJAC from all districts of Jammu and Kashmir provinces.
Theme of the convention was `Why not single platform and united struggle by the leaders when demands are same’.
Urging all the Government employees to unite under the banner of SGEJAC, the speakers on the occasion also castigated role of some self styled employees’ leaders who are acting as agents of the Government and their political masters across board for confusing the struggle.
Sushil Sudan, in his address, stressed the need for a united struggle to get the employees demands conceded. He appealed all the trade unions and their leaders to come on one platform for a decisive struggle.
Pardeep Sharma and Suresh Sharma said that the vested interests working within the trade unions and damaging the cause of employees must be exposed.
Subash Verma rued deteriorating standards of the trade unions in the State and said that the employees should better understand the role of those self styled leaders who have either retired from the service or at the verge of retirement but still claiming to be representing the EJAC. These people are damaging the interests of general employees, he added.
The speakers also highlighted the employees’ demands, which include cash payment of 6th Pay Commission arrears, regularization of daily wagers and other workers, restructuring of PSUs, removal of pay anomalies of all cadres, enhancement of the Medical Allowance to Rs 1000, qualifying service at par with Centre, removal of restrictions on GP Fund withdrawal, increase in the retirement age etc.
Others who spoke on the occasion, included Swarn Singh, Mohd Farooq, Bishan Verma, Kapil Bakshi, Mohd Farooq, Vinod Sharma, Jarnail Khokhar, Sanjay Abrol, Randip Singh, Khajar Mohd Jasrotia, K C Dubey, Manjoor Ali, Narinder Singh Dard, Ashok Singh Jamwal, Haji Khushal Mohd, Rattan Doshi, Bushan S Verma, Manjoor Zehanpuri, Jasmit Singh Madaan, Sanjay Abrol, Randip Singh Parihar and Rajesh Sharma.
The convention was attended by representative of PHE Workers Welfare Association, Jammu and Kashmir Medical Employees Federation, All Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation, United School Teachers Federation, JDA Employees Union, J&K Forest Corporation Employees Union, All J&K Housing Board Employees Association, Provincial Sheep and Wool Workers Association, All Public Sector Employees Joint Action Committee, J&K Medical Employees Association, Ranbir Government Employees Association, MVD Employees Union, J&K People’s Democratic Teachers Forum, Teachers Welfare Association, Mechanical Irrigation Employees Union and Municipal Workers Union.
