SRINAGAR, Jan 7: Officers of the Jammu and Kashmir State Forest Service today raised long-pending service-related issues, including career stagnation and pay anomalies, seeking early corrective measures within the Forest Department.
A spokesperson of the Jammu and Kashmir State Forest Service Officers Association, which called on the PCCF (HoFF), said the delegation discussed in detail the long-pending issues confronting the State Forest Service and the stagnation affecting officers across cadres.
He said the PCCF agreed in principle to upgrade the downgraded Divisional Forest Officer (DCF) posts in the Forest Protection Force, a step that could pave the way for much-needed career progression. “The PCCF (HoFF) agreed in principle to upgrade the downgraded DCF posts of the Forest Protection Force, which would help officers suffering stagnation in the department,” the spokesperson said.
Pay anomalies were also raised during the meeting, with the PCCF assuring that the matter would be examined and addressed, he added.
On the issue of common seniority among different wings, the spokesperson said the PCCF acknowledged anomalies in service matters and conveyed that these would be taken up by providing notional effect wherever feasible.
The PCCF further suggested convening an all-stakeholders meeting to minimise service-related litigation and to facilitate amendments to service rules to ensure long-term stability and fairness in the cadre. “The meeting concluded on a positive and constructive note, and the Association hopes for early and tangible outcomes,” the spokesperson said.
