Sex determination tests

Sir,
National Health Mission  has various incentives to discourage and prevent any diagnostic centres where the sex of the foetus could be determined.
Although there is a provision of cash rewards from Rs.25,000  to Rs. 50000, yet most of the public do not know fully about it especially in our rural areas.  National Rural Health Mission is particularly expected to play a leading role in totally preventing any facility in any form  to  know about the gender of the baby in the womb.
It is widely apparent and fairly known that despite strict threat of legal action against the practice, many unborn babies are killed in the mothers’ wombs  only because of being  not males. This , the culprits including the consenting parents  do not know is fraught with dangerous repercussions in the social set up in the coming years.
More is required to be done in the area especially the public awareness and lot of information spread through the media.
Yours  etc…….
