JAMMU, Oct 17: In a heartwarming initiative to promote education and empowerment among rural girls, Sewa Bharti Jammu & Kashmir, with the support of Sewa International, distributed 40 bicycles to teenage girls from the Marh block at Jhiri village on Friday.
The event was graced by Dr. Rakesh Minhas, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, and Ms. Pallavi, SDM Marh, as the chief guests. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Minhas appreciated the humanitarian efforts of Sewa Bharti and Sewa International, emphasizing that such initiatives not only encourage girls’ education but also strengthen the foundation of a self-reliant society. He further assured full Government support to the NGO’s upcoming initiatives in the region.
The distributed bicycles aim to ease the daily commute of school-going girls, many of whom travel over three kilometers each day to attend school. The gesture symbolizes not just transportation aid but “wings of freedom and opportunity” for these young students to pursue their education with dignity and determination.
Sewa Bharti and Sewa International representatives expressed gratitude to the district administration and highlighted that the cycle distribution was part of the SHE Project-Sanitation, Hygiene, and Empowerment-which is being implemented across border and rural areas of the country to empower girls and promote equal access to education.
The function was also attended by Jaidev Singh (Dada), Akhil Bhartiya Chatarvas Parmukh, Parmeet Ji , Sangathan Mantri , Sewa Bharti, Ajay Takoo, treasurer, Sewa Bharti, Arvind Dutt, Akhnoor Sewa Bharti Pramukh and Pamposh Ambardar Mahila Pramukh . They said Sewa Bharti believes that service to humanity is service to God.
