Several initiatives taken to expand education spectrum: Malik

SRINAGAR, Sept 28: Minister for Higher Education Labour and Employment, Abdul Gani Malik today said that it is need of hour to link education with requirements of society by exploiting potential among students and intellectuals.
The Minister was addressing an inaugural function of 6th Joint International 2-day Seminar of Indian Council of Social Science Research New Delhi and National Council of Research Thailand on “Globalisation : Change and Emerging Imperatives-India and Thailand”. The seminar was organised by Department of Sociology Kashmir University here today.
Mr. Malik said that Government has taken several initiatives to expand the educational spectrum by involving the State holders of various disciplines, adding that more steps are underway to boost the morale of students of all the three regions of the State.
Vice-Chancellor Kashmir University Prof. Talat Ahmed, in his presidential address, said that seminar is a valuable opportunity to contribute towards sharpening our understanding of the mechanics of globalization, on the one hand, and its macro economic consequences, on the other.
Nodal Officer, Higher Education and Principal Amar Singh College, Prof. Zahoor Chatt was also present on the occasion.
Earlier, Organising Secretary of the event Dr. Aneesa Shafi in her welcome address said that Indian Council of Social Science Research has continuously been involved in providing a large platform for momentous and significant academic deliberations thereby giving pathway to the solutions of various academic conjectures and social issues. Moving ahead with this aim, ICSSR has a bilateral programme with National Research Council of Thailand in the field of Social Science Research wherein Joint research activities are undertaken.
Almost 60 eminent academicians from various reputed institutions of Thailand and India like Chulalongkorn University, Fellow of the Royal Institute, The Dushdi Mala Medal, National Research Council of Thailand, Institute of Economic Growth, New Delhi, Indian Institute of Management, Kolkatta, Ahmedabad, JNU New Delhi, Institute of Public Enterprise Hyderabad, ICSSR, New Delhi, are participating in a seminar.
