RAMBAN, Feb, 19: In a fire incident here today seven residential houses were destroyed in Chambalwass area of Banihal.
Official sources said the fire broke out in a residential house in Syed Basti Chambalwass at around 12.30 am.
On getting information about the fire, rescue teams of Police, Fire and Emergency Services and local volunteers from Banihal rushed to the spot and tried to douse the blaze.
After hectic efforts the fire was brought under control but till then seven houses were destroyed.
However, no loss of life or injury to any person was reported in the fire incident but property worth lakhs of rupees was damaged.
The houses hit by the blaze belonged to Mohd Yousaf Shah, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Gulzar Ahmed Shah, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, Shabir Ahmed Shah, Jamat Ali Shah and Ghulam Nabi Shah.
MLA Banihal, Haji Sajjad Saheen has urged the district administration to provide immediate relief and compensation to the affected families to help them rebuild their lives.
He expressed heartfelt sympathies with the victim families in this difficult time.
