Seven drug peddlers nabbed with heroin

UDHAMPUR, Jan 25: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Udhampur Police today arrested seven drug peddlers and recovered a total of over 81 grams of heroin (chitta) in multiple operations across the Majalta and Udhampur areas of the district.
In Majalta area, a police team from Police Station Majalta, during routine naka checking near the PHE Filter Plant, intercepted a Maruti Van (JK02BX-8044) coming from Baryalta. The driver, Jonny Abrol of Thalora Manwal, along with co-occupants Neeraj Sharma of Manwal (Dhoon), Jammu, and Chiman Lal of Lunka Pani Sehal, Majalta, were found in possession of heroin. A total of 12.84 grams of the contraband was recovered, leading to the registration of FIR Number 08/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
In separate operations, police arrested Saif Ali of Nakkhi Khoon, Majalta, near Middle School Khama and recovered 51.60 grams of heroin, resulting in FIR No. 09/2026. Another accused, Nazir Ahmed of Dhamma, Majalta, was apprehended at Chatreri with 5.33 grams of heroin, leading to FIR No. 10/2026.
Meanwhile, in Udhampur town, a police team from Police Station Udhampur intercepted Bhopesh Pagetra alias Vishu of Kallar near Dudhar Bridge, Roun Domail, and recovered 5.74 grams of heroin from his possession. In this regard, FIR No. 24/2026 under the NDPS Act has been registered.
All the accused have been taken into custody and further investigation is underway in all cases.
