JAMMU, Jan 3: Police in Jammu district have booked seven individuals for allegedly defying the District Magistrate’s order on mandatory verification of the tenants.
A police official said that five FIRs were registered against as many individuals under section 223 of the BNS at Police Station Bahu Fort and two individuals were booked under similar provisions of the law at Police Station Channi Himmat.
Those facing FIRs at Police Station Bahu Fort have been identified as Bahar Ahmed Naik of Khari, Ramban at present Pali Hill, Bathindi, Qiaser Nizami of Firdous Colony, Chand Pura, Srinagar at present Pali Hill Bathindi, Umer Jan of Bemina Housing Colony near Masjid Ibrahim, Srinagar, at present House number 159-D, Palli Hill, Bathindi, Sajad Ahmed of Doda at present Bathindi Nallah, Barmini Road, Bathindi, and Sadam Hussain of Chachawah, Ramban, at present Bathindi Nallah.
Similarly, those booked at Channi Himmat Police Station have been identified as Abdul Latief of Batyas, Gandoh, Bhallessa, Doda at present Ward number 74, Street Number 110, Gujjar Colony, Channi Himmat, Jammu, and Sohail Qasim of House number 5, Gujjar Colony, Channi Himmat, Jammu.
“The cases have been registered as part of a routine verification and enforcement drive to ensure strict compliance with tenant verification norms, especially in view of the Republic Day celebrations and associated security measures,” the police official said.
The enforcement drives were carried out by SHOs of Bahu Fort and Channi Himmat Police Stations under the supervision of SDPO City East, SP Jammu South Ajay Sharma, and overall supervision of SSP Jammu Joginder Singh.
Meanwhile, police yet again appealed all the house owners to strictly adhere to the tenant verification guidelines and cooperate with the police.
Citizens were also requested to remain vigilant and extend full cooperation to maintain law and peace, law and order, and to ensure a safe and secure environment during the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.
