JAMMU, Feb 4: Former Minister for Public Health Engineering, (PHE), Irrigation & Flood Control and MLA, Marh, Choudhary Sukhnandan today toured village Jhiri, Kana Chack Kalyanpur, Burj, Jaswan, Makhyala, Layal, Kuntwala, Jafferchack, Ghomanhasa, Akalpur Chathajujran, Bachyal, Flora Nagbani Parwarh and assured the farmers that their grievances will be solved on priority basis.
While interacting with the people, he took stock of problems being faced by them and directed the concerned authorities to redress these issues on priority. Referring to measures being taken up to give fillip to developmental initiatives, he said that Central Government has ensured inclusive development of all the three regions with focus on remote and far-flung areas. He said while thrust is being laid on ensuring infrastructural development in key sectors like roads and building, health, education, power and drinking water sectors, the Coalition Government during last 10 months also prioritized employment generation schemes. Sukhnandan sought support of people in effectively implementing developmental agenda and assured that all necessary measures are being taken to meet developmental requirements of border areas.
Highlighting the achievements of Narendra Modi led Government in the Centre, MLA said that like other parts of the State, the Marh Constituency also needs development and the people of this Constituency were deprived of it from last many years. He said during last six years tenure as MLA, he did to the best of his capacity but still a lot needs to be done. Expressing grave concern over the miserable plight of the small and marginal farmers, BJP MLA urged to address the issue concerning the farmers in Jammu province. He said most of the transformers and tubewells have become dysfunctional and this has created serious problem for the farmers who at this point in time need round-the-clock power supply and adequate irrigation facilities.
There is urgent need to get the damaged transformers repaired forthwith and make tube wells functional otherwise it would cause irreparable damage to the poor and hand-to-mouth agrarian community in the region,” Choudhary said, and added that it is the fundamental duty of the Government to pay special attention to the agriculture sector on which depends the very existence of the people and State.
