JAMMU, Aug 16: Senior BJP leader and MLA from Jammu East, Yudhvir Sethi, today expressed profound grief over the tragic cloudburst at Chasoti village in Kishtwar district, which claimed several lives and left many missing.
The calamity, which struck on the route to the revered Machail Mata shrine, has plunged the region into deep mourning.
Sethi personally visited the houses of victims belonging to Jammu East Constituency and attended their last rites to stand in solidarity with the bereaved families.
Offering heartfelt condolences, he prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls and strength for the families to bear the irreparable loss.
Sethi first reached Vikram Chowk (Ward No. 19) to pay condolences to Hem Lala, wife of Rajinder Kumar Sharma.
Later, he visited Old Rehari (Ward No. 8), where he mourned the deaths of Sunil Kumar (37) and Nidhi Kumari (14), besides offering sympathies to the families of Anita Kumari, Shali Sharma and Naresh Kumar.
Accompanied by Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma, Sethi also reached New Plot (Ward No. 16) to console the family of Sonia Gupta, wife of Sanjeev Gupta, who too lost her life in the disaster.
Calling the tragedy “The biggest loss in recent years for Kishtwar,” Sethi said, “This calamity has shaken us all to the core. The pain of such an irreparable loss is beyond words, but hoped that the bereaved families find strength and courage in this hour of unbearable pain, assuring them that the BJP stands firmly with them in their moment of grief.”
The MLA further stressed that the government must provide employment to the next of kin of the deceased to help them rebuild their lives with dignity.
