JAMMU, Aug 24: In the wake of recent heavy rains that caused widespread waterlogging and damage in several parts of the city, Yudhvir Sethi, MLA of Jammu East Constituency visited multiple affected areas of his constituency.
During the visit, he surveyed neighborhoods severely impacted by the downpour, including Ward Nos. 71, 72 and adjoining localities of Jammu East Constituency, where waterlogging, damaged drainage systems and flooded streets disrupted daily life.
Sethi visited Lajpat Nagar, where the old PWD Nallah was severely damaged.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Despite repeated complaints, no repair work has been undertaken. Overflowing water during heavy rain has entered several homes, causing hardship.”
At Bikram Chowk near Tawi Bridge Temple, Sethi noted that a damaged iron grill poses a serious risk to public safety and requires urgent repair.
He also raised concerns about Peer Kho Nallah, where a large hole has led to rainwater entering houses and the broken wall of the Army Camp near Bhagwati Nagar and Jawahar Nagar, which has caused flooding in adjacent homes.
The MLA was accompanied by officials from the Jammu Tawi River Front Development Agency, Jammu Municipal Corporation and UEED.
