JAMMU, Aug 6: Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission Charitable Hospital (SVMMCH), Ambphalla, Jammu today reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to community health by organizing a dedicated and insightful awareness session on vascular wellness.
The event witnessed the active participation of the hospital’s core team, including consultants, resident doctors, nurses, paramedics, and administrative staff. Members of the Hospital Management Committee joined the occasion, including Amar Chand Gupta (Senior Vice President), B.B. Gupta (General Secretary), B.S. Jamwal (Secretary), Mohan Singh Chouhan (Treasurer), and Dr. Sachin Gupta (Member). Senior consultants Dr. Uttam Sharma, Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Dr. Rajesh Gandotra, Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Dr. Deepak Sharma, Dr. Suruchi Gupta, Dr. S.L. Fotra, Dr. Rishab Sharma, Dr. Akriti Mahajan, and S. Iqbal Deep Singh (Manager) were also present.
The program was joined by medical fraternity, including Dr. Gurjeet Singh (Ex-Professor & HOD, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, GMC Jammu), Dr. Mohan Lal (Ex-Professor & HOD, Cardiology, GMC Jammu), Dr. Sabita Yograj (Professor & Dean (Academics), SMVDIME, Kakryal Katra) and Dr. Rahul Gupta HoD (CD & Pulmonologist) CD Hospital Jammu.
A key highlight of the session was address delivered by Dr. Arvind Kohli, Medical Director SVMM and Senior Cardiovascular Surgeon. His lecture, titled “Understanding Cardiovascular and Vascular Diseases: Early Detection and Prevention,” focused in depth on varicose veins, peripheral arterial disease, aneurysms, venous insufficiency, and other chronic vascular conditions. He emphasized the importance of identifying modifiable risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension, smoking, obesity, and physical inactivity.
Dr. Gurjeet Singh appreciated the hospital’s initiative, stating that vascular diseases are often silent yet potentially life-threatening, and awareness is the first step toward prevention. He lauded SVMM’s efforts in creating an open platform for health education, and called the hospital “a shining example of service-driven, patient-focused care that goes beyond treatment to true community impact.”
Dr. Mohan Lal also expressed his admiration, emphasizing that vascular conditions are on the rise due to changing lifestyles, and early detection through such community initiatives is vital. He commended the hospital’s team for their unified and dedicated efforts, and said that SVMM’s work sets a commendable benchmark for other institutions.
Vote of thanks was delivered by Senior Vice President Amar Chand Gupta, who expressed deep appreciation for the guests, staff, and speakers who made the day a success.
Dr. Romesh Gupta, Administrator SVMM, reaffirmed the hospital’s ongoing mission to heal with humility, serve with sincerity, and uplift through education. He emphasized that SVMM Hospital will continue to champion preventive health through such impactful awareness programs.
