Send ‘dead-wood’ home without more delay: NDP

JAMMU, Sept 12: National Democratic Party has urged upon the State Administration led by Governor Satya Pal Malik to send back the `dead wood’ existing in various Govt departments, to their homes as they are burden on the public exchequer.
In a meeting of the NDP held here today under the chairmanship of its working president N K Attri today, the members expressed serious concern over the inaction on the part of State Administration against the non-performing Government employees/ officers described as the `dead-wood’.
They pointed out that some time back, a list of non-performing and some corrupt officials was claimed to be prepared by the previous regime. But after the change of guard in the State, the fate of that list was not known. This issue was also projected in several newspapers and local channels. But unfortunately, that exercise was never came to light or taken up.
The members pointed out that many corrupt officers and non-performing employees are liabilities on the government and unwanted burden on the public exchequer. The Central Government led by Narendra Modi has thrown out many corrupt officials by holding secret inquiry recently.
They urged upon the State Governor Satya Pal Malik and the Chief Secretary, BVR Subrahmanyam to complete this exercise in Jammu and Kashmir as well and forcibly retire the corrupt and non-performing officers from various Government departments.
Prominent among those present in the meeting included Subhash Chander Sharma, JG Sharma, RK Khajuria, Vijay Anand, Sohan Singh, Ravinder Singh and Raj Kumar Khajuria.
