JAMMU: Selfies and photo clicks by wrestling lovers and the people today welcomed international wrestler from India Dalip Singh famous as ‘The Great Khali’, in this winter capital of the State.
The young and the old, who were waiting for Khali here, were seen clicking selfies and taking photos with him the moment he arrived at the Dangal Akhara.
The Giant Wrestler, was here in the town to give a boost to the wrestling. Dressed in white shirt and grey pants, Khali reached the venue late afternoon and remained surrounded with his fans, wrestling promoters and locals.
Talking to reporters at the venue, Khali expressed happiness over grand reception and the love showered by the people of Jammu. “I am feeling honoured and great, the way I have been welcomed,” Khali said.
On a question regarding future of Indian wrestling at international forum, he said, “India has a great future in wrestling but only what is required is infrastructure and facilities.”
WWF style of wrestling is completely different from the Indian style, which is being played in mud or on mat, he said adding that he has introduced and making wrestling more popular on WWF pattern in India. (AGENCIES)
