SRINAGAR, July 21: A local court today sent a self-styled journalist arrested in Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militancy funding case to seven day police remand.
Muzamil Zahoor son of Zahoor Ahmad Malik of Indergam Pattan was arrested in LeT militancy funding case yesterday and was produced before court that send him to 7 day police remand.
He was arrested by police during the investigation of FIR No 20/23 under sections 120B, 121, 121A IPC and sections 13,18,39,40 of ULAP Act wherein recovery of Rs 31.65 lacs was effected.
The police spokesman said Muzamil had opened a fake account on forged identity in a bank for transactions related to furtherance of the activities of the LeT outfit.
“He had received funds in lakhs meant for terror activities in this account from the main terror hawala operator of LeT,” the police added.
“Incriminating material has also been seized from the accused at the time of his arrest,” it said.
The spokesman further said that five accused have already been arrested in the case. They are identified as Umar Adil Dar, son of Ghulam Hassan Dar of Soiteng, Salik Mehraj, son of Mehraj din Dar of Soiteng, Bilal Ahmad Siddiqi, son of Ghulam Ahmad Sidiqi of Kursoo Rajbagh, Zamrooda Habib, daughter of Habibullah Bhat of Sanatnagr Srinagar and Yasmeen Raja daughter of Ghulam Nabi Bhat of Tulbagh, Pampore.
