JAMMU, Dec 14: In a Public Interest Litigation,   Division Bench of State High Court,  comprising Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Sanjeev Kumar  directed  Secretary Tourism and  Chief Executive Officer Patnitop Development Authority to  present in person on December 20, 2017 and  explain the court as to what measures have been taken with regard to the properties under its control.
The PIL was filed by Adv Summit Nayyar seeking respondents to develop/improve the tourist infrastructural facilities for the Mantalai-SudhMahadev including temples, which attract a large number of tourists every year both in summer and winter season and to take effective measures as expeditiously as possible. Sr  Adv Sunil Sethi with Advs Mohsin Bhat and  Summit Nayyar appeared for the PIL  and  Govt Adv Ahatsham Bhat for the State.
During the course of hearing, it was submitted that property worth hundreds of crore in Mantalai Aparna  Asharam is gathering dust while the State Government has failed to tap the tourism potential of the area and is still in the state of infancy with regard to developing the place on the tourism map of the State. The petitioner claimed that  immoveable and movable property located inside the sprawling ashram built over 1002 kanals of land is almost lying  in dilapidated condition while out of 26 rooms of the under construction five star hotel,  the automatic locks of one dozen rooms are broken and nothing is lying inside these rooms.
