SRINAGAR, Jan 19: Authorities in Kashmir intensified security measures to ensure peaceful Republic Day celebrations, with police and paramilitary forces maintaining a strict vigil to avert any untoward incidents.
Security forces have been deployed in Srinagar and other district headquarters, where sanitization and area domination exercises are underway.
Multiple checkpoints have been established, particularly at entry points to Srinagar and other districts.
Security personnel were today seen conducting vehicle frisking at various locations, with these operations set to continue until the Republic Day events conclude.
The main Republic Day function will take place in Jammu, presided over by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. In the Kashmir Valley, the main event is scheduled at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, with similar celebrations planned at district headquarters.
A multi-layered security system has been implemented at venues, including Bakshi Stadium, to ensure incident-free celebrations.
