SRINAGAR: Security forces on Monday launched Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in over half-a-dozen villages in south Kashmir district of Shopian, official sources said.
They said on a tip-off about the presence of militants, Army, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and paramilitary forces launched a joint CASO in over a dozen villages in Shopian since early Monday morning.
Security forces sealed all exit points and started house to house searches.
However, so far, no one was arrested. Additional security forces have been deployed outside the CASO area to prevent any demonstrations.
It is believed that due to snowfall and cold weather on upper reaches, the militants hiding in the woods have come down to the villages. (AGENCIES)
