JAMMU, Jan 18: Deepika Sharma, Secretary of the Department of Culture, inaugurated a three-day All Women Painters’ Camp at Kala Kendra, Jammu, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL).
In her inaugural address, Sharma praised the profound connection between women and creativity, emphasizing that such events offer women artists a platform to explore and showcase their talents. She expressed hope that the camp would encourage artistic collaboration, skill-sharing, and mutual learning among participants.
Harvinder Kour, Secretary of JKAACL, highlighted that the camp aims to promote the visual art heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. It is dedicated exclusively to women painters, offering them an opportunity to excel and establish their presence in the visual arts field.
Dr. Javaid Rahi, Head of the Divisional Office in Jammu, revealed that 12 artists from various regions of Jammu and Kashmir are participating in the camp. The event will conclude with an exhibition featuring artworks created during the camp.
Renowned artist Jang S. Barman, who was present at the inauguration, praised the initiative and emphasized the importance of involving women and youth in the creative process.
The participating artists include Anjali Bharti, Mahua Gupta, Shruti Sharma, and others. The vote of thanks was presented by Popinder Singh Paras, Editor (Punjabi), JKAACL.
