JAMMU, May 23: Security forces continued searches to track down four terrorists at Singhpora and Beighpora in Chatroo area of Kishtwar district for second day today but the success remained elusive.

One soldier was martyred and two others were injured in the encounter that followed the launch of Operation Trashi by a joint team of the Army, police, Special Operations Group (SOG) and paramilitary forces yesterday.

The Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was initiated on intelligence inputs about the presence of four terrorists in the area.
“The search operation is ongoing for the second day. Additional troops have been deployed to strengthen the cordon and intensify the operation to track down the hiding terrorists,” an official said.
Sepoy Gaykar Sandip Pandurang, who was martyred in the encounter, was a resident of Karandi village of Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra. He was serving in the 17th Rashtriya Rifles deployed in Kishtwar district.
Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat and IGP Jammu Zone Bhim Sen Tuti visited the encounter site yesterday to supervise the operation.
