JAMMU, Dec 5: Governor N N Vohra is learnt to have constituted the Search Panel for selection of new Vice-Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) as the tenure of incumbent VC Prof Sudhir K Jain completes on February 16, 2016.
The four-member Search Panel is being headed by Dr R Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, official sources informed the Excelsior.
Prof M C Mishra, Director AIIMS, is UGC nominee in the Search Panel of which D P Aggarwal, former UPSC Chairman and Dr S S Bloeria, former Vice-Chancellor of Central University Jammu, are other members, sources added.
Maiden meeting of the panel is likely to be held in next few days of this month for preliminary discussion on the modalities to invite applications from aspirants of the post of Vice-Chancellor.
As per the practice, after inviting applications, the Search Committee will scrutinize resume of the candidates and shortlist them according to their experience as well as other qualification for an interview. On the basis of interview and other criteria, a panel of three-four candidates will be submitted to the Governor for a final selection as the Vice-Chancellor.
As the three-year tenure of the incumbent Vice-Chancellor Prof Sudhir K Jain is going to complete on February 16, 2016, sources said that the entire process for selection of new VC is likely to be finished in next two months.
