JAMMU, Mar 1: A search committee has been constituted for the selection of new Vice-Chancellor of Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), Awantipora.

An order in this regard has been issued by the Lt Governor’s Secretariat, according to which, the search committee will recommend to the Chancellor (Lt Governor Manoj Sinha)) a panel of not less than four persons for appointment to the post of Vice-Chancellor of the university by or before May 3, 2026.
Headed by Prof Mohd Miyan, former Vice-Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANU), Hyderabad, as the Chairman, the search committee comprises Prof Kumud Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University Wardha (UGC Nominee); Prof Pankaj Chandra, Vice-Chancellor of Ahmedabad University, Gujarat and Prof Subeer S Majumdar, Director General, Gujarat Biotechnology University, Gandhinagar, as the Members.
Shafqat Iqbal, Special Secretary in the Higher Education Department, shall provide Secretariat assistance to the committee and regularly update the Lt Governor’s Secretariat on the progress made in this regard.
Pertinent to mention that Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshooo is the incumbent Vice-Chancellor of IUST Awantipora, holding the position since 2021 with a two-year extension granted in 2024.
