GHAGWAL, June 4: A daylong development camp was held today at Manguchak Village in Ghagwal Sub-Division of Samba district under the Vibrant Villages Programme-II (VVP-II) to chalk out a holistic Village Development Plan.
The camp was led by SDM Ghagwal, K S Bali, who is also the Nodal Officer for Manguchak under the scheme.
Officials from various departments including the Tehsildar, BDO, BSF, Cooperative Department, BSNL, banks, and members of Self Help Groups joined local residents to discuss the roadmap for transforming the border village.
The focus of the camp was on four major themes-improving infrastructure, boosting livelihood opportunities, strengthening governance, and encouraging community participation.
Speaking at the event, the SDM said Manguchak has the potential to emerge as a model border village.
“Today’s camp is the first step towards sustainable development, economic growth, and strengthening national security through people’s participation,” he said.
Locals actively shared their concerns and suggestions, while the BSF officials highlighted the importance of integrating border communities for security purposes.
The Vibrant Villages Programme-II was approved by the Union Cabinet on April 4, 2025, with a budget of Rs 6,839 crore.
It focuses on the development of strategic villages along the international borders, excluding those already covered under the first phase.
Under the programme, Manguchak is expected to see improvements in connectivity, services, and economic growth, contributing to the larger goal of Viksit Bharat@2047.
