JAMMU, Dec 30: The State unit of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations will ghearo the State Assembly on January 18, the opening day of the Assembly Session, in protest of imposition of ban on reservation in promotion.
The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of the Confederation held today at Gujjar Charitable Trust, Jammu. The meeting was attended by the members of the Confederation as well as people from social and political class belonging to SC/ST/OBC/RBA/ALC categories.
The participants deliberated on the emergent issue of Reservation and dilemma arisen aftermath the State High Court order, which closed the carrier prospective of the people belonging to SC/ST/ OBC/ RBA/ ALC in Government services.
The speakers said that after imposing ban on reservation in promotion, a massive resentment is brewing up amongst the reserved categories peoples, who have been consistently struggling for its revocation.
State president of the Confederation, RK Kalsotra said that Confederation is fighting on this issue and organized various protest rallies at Jammu and other districts as well as at New Delhi highlighting the injustice to the reserved categories peoples. We also submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Prime Minister but no seriousness on the part of Government was shown so far.
The meeting unanimously decided that the confederation will gherao the State Assembly on its opening day on January 18 to press the Government to awake from deep slumber. The rally will start on at 10am from Ambedkar Chowk, Rail Head, Jammu.
Jagjivan Lal, Yash Paul Kundal, both Ex-Ministers and Nizamudin Khattana, Ex-MLC, were also present in the meeting and expressed their deep concern over the issue. They assured the confederation that they will vociferously ask the State Government to revoke immediately the disastrous High Court Order and adopt 77th, 81st, 82nd, 85th amendments along with removing new atrocities directions/amendnent.
Kalsotra also demanded to extend jurisdiction of National Commission for SC & ST.
