JAMMU, Aug 29: President of Consumer Protection Organization (CPO), J&K, Des Raj Danish today said that scrapping of special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 has led to rise in rights of consumers of the State.
He was speaking during an event organized in connection with Jammu-Kashmir State Consumer Day at Press Club, Jammu. The function was graced by Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Jammu as chief guest while a large number of consumers were also attended the event.
Presenting welcome address, Des Raj said that Article 370 was a big obstacle for the State and after its abrogation, rights of consumers of the State has increased. He said after remaining deprived of their rights, consumers of the State get some relief when in 1987 he made his contribution and resolved many unsolved consumer matters.
CPO president said that the action is not taken as per the directives of the Consumer Forum. To prove his claim, he stated that rate list must be showcased properly in every shop but only few shops rate lists are seen pasted.
He further said that there was a provision of making ‘Kisaan Mandies’ in Agriculture Produce Marketing Act 1997 for the welfare of the farmers but even after more than two decades, this Act has not been implemented and farmers are still suffering.
