Scientific Advisory Committee meeting of KVK Jammu held

JAMMU, Dec 9: 13th Scientific Advisory Committee meeting of KVK Jammu was held yesterday under the chairmanship of Dr P K Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu.
In his presidential address, Dr Sharma stressed that there should be a very strong linkage between KVKs, line departments and farming community otherwise technology dissemination will not take place. He directed to include feedback of farmers in all its programmes so that data could be generated for developing further course of action to solve farmer’s problems effectively. He also directed KVKs to prepare the directory of the progressive farmers of Jammu district who act as messengers for popularization of new technologies among the farming community.
The VC address was focused on Input optimization, Plant protection, Use of chemicals in crops, IPM, INM, Protected cultivation, Organic farming, water use efficiency through laser land leveler and site specificity problem solving approach. He urged the farmers to keep suggesting KVK to conduct different programmes according to their needs.
The Vice Chancellor directed all the Heads of Divisions of SKUAST-J to come forward and participate in programmes of different KVKs for showcasing recent technologies of University.
Dr K S Risam, Director Extension, deliberated upon the importance of conducting SAC for each KVK. Dr Sanjay Khar, Programme Coordinator/Sr Scientist and Member secretary, KVK Jammu presented the progress report of the work done during current year and action plan for 2015-16.
Officers from the line departments and progressive farmers of Jammu district actively participated and gave suggestion in ongoing programmes and finalization of action Plan of KVK Jammu.
On this occasion, Dr Pramod Baru, Associate Director Extension, HoDs of different Divisions, SKUAST-J, district heads of different line departments, Radio Jammu and progressive farmers were present and actively deliberated in the proceedings.
