JAMMU, Sept 2: In view of the prevailing bad weather conditions, Government has ordered closure of all schools and colleges in Jammu Division on September 3, 2025 while coaching centres in Jammu district will also remain shut till further orders.

Separate orders in this regard were issued today by Director School Education Jammu; Director Colleges, J&K and Chief Education Officer, Jammu.
“Due to bad weather conditions and continuous downpour leading to flood like situation across the Jammu division, it is hereby ordered that all Government Degree Colleges/GCETs in Jammu Division shall remain closed on 3rd September, 2025 (Wednesday), read the order, issued by Director Colleges, J&K, Dr Sheikh Ajaz Bashir.
For the closure of schools, an order in this regard was issued by DSEJ Jammu, citing reason of the weather advisory regarding the possible heavy rainfall, landslides, flash floods, cloudbursts etc, which may aggravate the current situation, such as severe water logging, flooding in low lying areas, damaged roads and damaged school buildings, thereby resulting in disruption of the safe functioning of the schools.
“In order to ensure the safety of students and staff, it is hereby ordered that all Government and private schools across Jammu division shall remain closed on 03-09-2025,” read the order, reiterating that online classes be conducted wherever possible to ensure continuity of education.
According to a separate order, issued today by the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Jammu, all coaching centres operating within the jurisdiction of Jammu district shall remain closed with immediate effect, in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
As per the order, the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident and to ensure the safety of all concerned.
“All coaching centre operators are directed to comply with this order strictly. Any violation shall be dealt with sternly under relevant provisions of law,” read the order.
Meanwhile, J&K Board of School Education has postponed the Annual (Private)/Bi-annual 2025 examinations of Class 10th and 11th, which were scheduled to be held on September 3, 2025.
Fresh dates for the postponed exams shall be notified separately.
