JAMMU, Jan 22: SCERT J&K Divisional Office Jammu hosted a three-day workshop on developing educational materials for human values, gender equality, global citizenship, inclusion, and equity.
Organized by the Department of Curriculum Development and Studies, the workshop brought together educators and experts to create comprehensive resources aimed at promoting these essential values among students.
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director, SCERT J&K, Divisional Office Jammu. In her inaugural speech, she emphasized the growing need for education systems to respond to social, cultural, and global challenges. She urged participants to incorporate human values into their pedagogy and work towards creating a more equitable and just society through education, advocacy, and community engagement.
Swaran Singh Jaral, Professor and Head, Academic Unit-II, presented welcome address. The three-day workshop aimed to equip teachers with the skills to develop value-oriented and context-specific teaching materials that address real classroom challenges, such as diverse learner needs and socio-cultural sensitivities. These resources will be integrated into school curricula, empowering students to become responsible, empathetic, and active global citizens.
The workshop was attended by Teachers, Masters, and DIET faculty from ten districts of Jammu Division.
Expert sessions spanning three days covered themes such as Global Citizenship, Inclusion and Equity for Human Values, Gender Sensitization, and Human Rights Education. The sessions were led by seasoned resource persons including Sachin Kumar Bhagat, Assistant Professor, GDC Marh, Jammu; Sushil Hitaishi; Manu Vasudeva; Paawan Vivek; Senior Academic Officers; and Academic Officers from SCERT Jammu Division.
The workshop culminated in a valedictory function, where certificates of participation were awarded to the participants. The event was anchored by Neena Puri, Academic Officer. Amit Bhagat, Academic Officer, coordinated the workshop and was supported by Sushil Hitaishi, Academic Officer, SCERT Jammu.
The coordination team included Deepak Kumar, Yogesh Kumar, Parshotam Singh, Neena Puri, Poonam Sharma, Dr Sandarve Gupta, Ashok Kumar, Manisha Chun, and Sushma Kumari. IT support was provided by Yugal Kishore and Navneet Gupta.
