JAMMU, Nov 8: Three -day seminar on School Safety for Heads of Institutions – Jammu Division, organized by the State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT) J&K, concluded at the SCERT Divisional office Jammu.
The programme aimed to empower school heads with the necessary knowledge, frameworks and leadership practices required to ensure safe, secure and child-friendly school environments in alignment with the NEP-2020.
The programme was held under the stewardship of Prof Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director SCERT J&K, Divisional Office Jammu, who stressed that “School leaders today are not just administrators; they are torch bearers of trust, protection and ethical responsibility.” She urged participants to strengthen institutional safety mechanisms, enhance monitoring tools, and cultivate a culture of care and accountability.
Sanjeev Suri, Associate Professor & Head Academic unit 1, highlighted the critical importance of child safety as the foundation of meaningful education.
The programme brought together 40 Heads of Institutions from across the Jammu Division and included technical sessions on key themes of school safety and child protection, addressed by resource persons from UNICEF India, DIET Jammu, SCERT J&K, Juvenile Justice Board Jammu, Narcotics Control Bureau and SDRF Jammu. The schedule covered SOPs and policy guidelines, disaster management in schools, roles and responsibilities of stakeholders, drug abuse prevention, implementation of child rights, cyber safety and digital citizenship, and mental health and well-being.
Eminent speakers including Danish Aziz (UNICEF India), Shalini Sharma (JJB Jammu), Raj Kumar Shaw (NCB) and Navneet Gupta (JKSCERT), Dr Romesh Kumar (DIET Jammu), ASI Arun Mohinder, SGCT Anil Sharma (SDRF Jammu), and faculty from SCERT Jammu provided expert insights and guidance throughout the seminar.
The program was coordinated by Manisha Chun, with valuable support from Rukhsana Gulbadan and Parshotam Singh as Associate Coordinators. Rakesh Kumar Chobber and Vivek Jandial, Academic Officers, served as Technical Coordinators for the event.
During the Valedictory Session, Dr Siddhi Sood, Assistant Professor, Department of Education of Groups with Special Needs (DEGSN) NCERT New Delhi, interacted with HoI’s and deliberated upon dissemination of Vidyapravesh at foudational stage.
After the distribution of certificates, vote of thanks was delivered by Rukhsana Gulbadan.
