JAMMU, Nov 29: In alignment with the transformative vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes experiential, skill-based, and joyful learning, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Divisional Office Jammu, conducted a three-day conference, which concluded today.
Organised by the Department of Art Education and Vocational Education, Academic Unit-I, the meet aimed to review, refine, and validate the contextualised guidelines and activity modules for Bagless Days, with particular focus on linguistic relevance and cultural appropriateness for learners across Jammu Division.
Sanjeev Suri, Head AU-I, and Bharat Bhushan, Head EPMM, shared their insights on the initiative and emphasized that Bagless Days will provide children opportunities to explore creativity, develop life skills, and connect learning with real-world experiences, thereby fostering holistic student development beyond conventional classroom methods.
A distinguished panel of subject experts, comprising academicians and subject experts from the school education sector, contributed to this rigorous quality assurance exercise. The team meticulously reviewed the contextual relevance, linguistic accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and pedagogical alignment of activities across multiple disciplines, with special focus on the regional languages Hindi, Urdu, Dogri, and Sanskrit to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for diverse learners of the Jammu Division. The panel included Dr Vijay Kumar, Senior Lecturer, HSS Jullaka Mohalla; Dr Sonam, Senior Lecturer, GGHSS Rehari, Dil-Nawaz Khan, Senior Lecturer, GHSS Sohal, Nikhat Choudhary, Senior Lecturer, HSS Shiendara, Gafoor Ahmed, Headmaster, HS Bhangai; Shazia Chowdhary, Teacher, HS Sawani, and SCERT faculty members— Parveen Akhter and Dr Sushma Rani, Assistant Professors, Dr Sandeep Singh, Senior Academic Officer, and Shamim Nazki, Academic Officer.
The comprehensive arrangements of the conference were punctiliously coordinated by Pooja Sharma, supported by Sabah Rasheed as Associate Coordinator and Yogesh Sharma as Technical Coordinator, under the overall supervision of Sanjeev Suri (Unit Head) and Vandana Gupta (Wing Head), along with a diligent team including Ashok Kumar, Rukhsana Gulbadan, and Meena Thakur.
The programme culminated with a valedictory ceremony, during which certificates of appreciation were awarded to the subject experts. in recognition of their invaluable contribution toward strengthening NEP-aligned reforms in the education system. A formal vote of thanks was extended by Vandana Gupta, Assistant Professor.
