SRINAGAR, Aug 10: Dr Owvass Hamied Dar has been elected president of the Society of Consultant Doctors (SCD), Jammu & Kashmir, following the organisation’s recent leadership elections.
Dr Mir Mushtaq has been chosen as the chief spokesperson.
The newly elected office-bearers include Dr Jalpreet Kour as vice president, from Jammu Division, Dr Basharat Hussain Pandit as vice president, from Kashmir Division, Dr Waseem Rasool as general secretary, and Dr Irfan-ul-Shamas as treasurer.
The elections, held on the other day through online voting, saw participation from 241 consultants across the region, SCD said.
The body has also nominated Dr Robindra Kour and Dr Asif Mustafa as joint secretaries, while Dr Balwinder Singh, Dr M.Y. Tak, and Dr Manjeet Singh have been inducted into the Governing Body.
The new leadership has pledged to focus on professional development programmes for doctors, strengthening doctor-patient relationships, improving working conditions in the healthcare sector, and collaborating with health authorities to enhance public health standards.
