RAJOURI, Nov 1: All India SC, ST, OBC and ALC Confederation, Rajouri unit organized one day cadre camp-cum-convention at district headquarters under the chairmanship of Sabar Choudhary, district president. State president of the Confederation R K Kalsotra also addressed as a chief guest.
Hundreds of workers participated in the meeting and expressed solidarity for expediting movement to save reservation. The speakers alleged that coalition Government was discriminating against the people belong to reserved categories.
Other demands highlighted in the meeting included: opposing move of State Government for snatching reservation rights; Clearance of backlogs of Central and State level posts in various departments; Implementation of reservation in private sector; Preparation of special plan for SC, ST, OBCs and timely release of SC/ST funds; Taking sincere steps by the Government for revoking the stay on the reservation in promotions; Inclusion of Gojri language in the 8th schedule and Implementation of Mandal Commission recommendation for 27% reservation to OBCs; Opening of G&B, SC and OBCs Hostels at tehsil headquarters in Poonch and Rajouri districts.
In support of the cause of saving reservation, the masses were appealed to assemble in large number on November 7, 2016 at Jammu to march up to Secretariat and on November 28 to march towards Parliament in order to safeguard the Constitutional Rights of reservation in promotion.
Others who spoke were Haji Ghulam Abass, Ch Ghulzar Hussain, Ch Zakir Nawas, Badri Nath, Ch Ghulam Nabi, Ch Guftar, Suraj Parkash, Ch Fazal Hussain, Mohd Akram Qazmi, Ram Lal and Abdul Majid Palhote.
