SC, ST, OBC bodies appeal for restoration of UGC-Equity Bill

JAMMU, Mar 14: The SC/ST/OBC and Minorities Adhikar Manch (J&K) has appealed to the Supreme Court of India for restoration of UGC-Equity Bill as next hearing is on March 19, 2026.
Speaking to the media, Narinder Datt, Chairman SC/ST/OBC & Minorities Adhikaar Manch said that various dignitaries and intellectuals from different societies and sabha’s of SC, ST, OBC & Minorities gathered today, in the premises of All J&K Megh Sabha, Old Rehari and unanimously decided to demand quick restoration of UGC-Equity Bill from Supreme Court of India as the Court itself observed that registered atrocities cases have increased as compared to the prevoius data .
He also informed media that on March 17, 2026 around 10.30 am, we will gather at Press Club near Exhibition Ground and then peacefully march towards Divisional Commissioner’s office to handover the memorandum for the restoration of the said Bill.
Bansi Lal Bharti, Convener OBC Maha Sabha, Rajat Bhagat, president Azad Smaj Party, (J&K), Sham Lal Basson, president Dalit Chetna Manch, M R Dogra, chief advisor Adhikaar Manch, Balram Raj president Parvasi Mazdoor Union), Kewal Krishan Fotra, president All J&K Sain Smaj, R C Bhasin, president Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Narinder Singh Khalsa, president Shiromani Akali Dal (J&K), Mohinder Bhagat president BMS, Kali Dass president Guru Nabha Dass Sabha & many others were present on the occasion.
