SC, ST Confederation holds conference

JAMMU, Feb 23: One day mega conference has been organized at Rajouri Headquarter under the banner of All India Confederation of SC, ST & OBC Organizations District Unit Rajouri.
Choudhary Javed Ahmed Rana Deputy Chairman of State Legislative Council was the chief guest. In the historic conference, thousands of workers including members of various State Advisory Boards, Sarpanchs and Panchs across the State took part and expressed their solidarity for initiating a movement for saving the reservation. R.K Kalsotra State president of confederation alleged that the Coalition Government in the State is discriminating with the people belonging to reserved categories and considering them as untouchables.
The conference opposed the move of the State Government for introduction of catch up rule which is aimed at snatching the reservation rights of the downtrodden communities with the deliberate intention to inflict harm to all the reserved categories. It also demanded clearance of back logs of Central level/State level posts, implementation of reservation in private sector, besides, early release and keeping a bird’s eye on the part of the Government to prevent any sort of misuse of the Tribal Funds.
Stress was also laid for provision of proportional reservation on the basis of population of the reserved categories for the posts at various cadre levels, preparation of special plan for SC, ST & OBCs, timely release of tribal funds, fixation of roster in various departments, inclusion of Gojri language in the Eighth Schedule and implementation of Mandal Commission recommendations for 27% reservation to OBCs. R.K Kalsotra referred that Article 10 of the Constitution of the State envisages that any rule of the GOI pertaining to reservation shall be applicable in the state.
Javed Rana was also apprised for opening of G&B, SC and OBCs Hostels at Tehsil Headquarters in Rajouri and Poonch Districts as population of these categories is in concentration i.e upto 70% in these districts, provision of SC, OBCs Girls Hostels on the pattern of G&B and Pahari hostels at all District HQs, making of legislations for provision of Political reservations to the weaker sections in the State Assembly and Councils. Deputy Chairman assured to take up the issues with the Coalition Govt.
