JAMMU, July 23: A bench of Supreme Court comprising Justice Aftab Alam and Justice Ranjana Parkash Desai today dismissed the SLP filed by Tirlochan Singh Wazir, former National Conference MLC, against the order of Trial Court whereby Principal Sessions Judge Jammu, Jang Bhadur Singh Jamwal had framed charges against him and others in the much publicized Chopra family murder case.
The Special Leave Petition was filed in the Supreme Court against judgment of High Court which had upheld the order of the Trial Court. The Trial Court had observed that there was ground for presuming that accused has committed offence for which he was required to be charged and put on trial.
The prosecution witness Surinder Singh in his statement recorded on June 9, 2011 had mentioned that accused TS Wazir had stated that Chopra and his entire family was to be done away with and he was prepared to invest amount for accomplishing the task, the High Court had observed.
Similarly from the statement of prosecution witness, it came to fore that accused had conspired that Chopra will be dealt with by one Sanju at the instance of T S Wazir. Similarly prosecution witness Ramesh Kumar had given the details about the hatching of the conspiracy to kill the Chopra.
Aggrieved over the order of the High Court, T S Wazir filed SLP in the Supreme Court and the Apex Court after hearing Senior Advocate Ranjit Kumar with Advocates Dinesh Kumar Garg and BS Billowria, observed, “bench do not find any merit in this petition for Special Leave as such the same is dismissed”.
