JAMMU, Dec 22: Supreme Court advocate Neeta Verma was honoured with an international award at a legal conference held in Bnagkok, where serious concerns were raised over growing global conflicts and repeated violations of human rights.
A statement said speakers at the conference highlighted that ongoing conflicts have led to the loss of countless innocent lives and the destruction of families, leaving deep humanitarian scars.
It was also pointed out that human rights laws had been violated repeatedly during wars, with even hospitals and civilian infrastructure coming under attack.
As a mark of respect and solidarity, citizens and members of the judiciary from different countries observed a moment of silence in Bangkok for the peace of the souls of civilians killed in these conflicts.
The conference was attended by lawyers from the Supreme Court of India and from several Indian states, along with a number of journalists.
The programme was organised and conducted by Dr Adish C Aggarwala, President of the International Council of Jurists, London, and former President of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
Advocate Neeta Verma was honoured for her contributions to the legal field and her work related to law.
She had earlier also been recognised for her book on law by Justice Surya Kant of the Supreme Court of India.
