CHANDIGARH, Aug 22: State Bank of India (SBI) organised a financial inclusion camp at Shiv Mandir, Ram Darbar, Chandigarh, today as part of its “Jan Samriddhi Abhiyan.”
A statement said more than 125 people attended the programme, where officials highlighted the importance of social security schemes, account opening, re-KYC, and awareness on digital fraud prevention.
The camp was organised under the three-month saturation campaign directed by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services, to expand the reach of schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
During the drive, banks have been asked to conduct activities including re-verification of KYC for inactive accounts, opening of new bank accounts for unbanked adults and fresh enrolments under the social security and pension schemes.
At the Ram Darbar camp, SBI officials interacted with participants, addressed queries, and encouraged enrolment under the flagship schemes.
Neeraj Bharti, General Manager NW-II, attended as the chief guest along with other dignitaries from the banking, education and industry sectors.
Officials said awareness was also spread in the regional language to ensure greater participation.
According to SBI, the campaign has been designed to strengthen financial inclusion at the grassroots level and bring more citizens into the formal banking and social security net.
