JAMMU, Mar 28: Former minister and senior Congress leader Yogesh Sawhney has raised question on disconnecting electricity connections of those people who are not able to pay heavy and unfair power bills.
A deputation led by Ex MLA Jammu East and senior Congress leader Yogesh Sawhney visited the PDD office to discuss electricity services being cut in various households and extremely high Electricity bills that have been slapped on people. Several local residents affected by these problems were part of the delegation and accompanied Sawhney to the PDD office to raise their concerns.
Sawhney met with the Technical Officer, PDD and apprised him of the situation, demanding a respite for the people who had been served exorbitantly high Electricity bills and whose electricity services had been cut off in the scorching heat of the season causing a lot of misery and inconvenience. However, both the Chief Engineer and MD PDD were not present at the office. Technical Officer, PDD Department assured the delegation that there will be a meeting between Public representatives and the MD PDD Department.
Sawhney was accompanied by a Councillor of Ward No. 7 Ritu Choudhary and president Daru Gali Mohalla Ward No. 15 Market president Raj Kumar Sodi. Dr Ramakant Khajuria, Atul Sharma, Chandershekhar Sharma and Rakesh Sharma were there in the deputation.
Ritu Choudhary highlighted the plight of the residents of her ward and said that all men, women, and children have been affected terribly the power cuts. The days are growing hotter and it is extremely difficult for families to manage without electricity. Students have to study and write examinations and people have to work all day without any electricity. The way forward is that the PDD should immediately restore electricity and find a better solution than to completely cut off electricity connections as it causes so much distress, she said.
