Sawhney meets CM’s Advisor, discusses development issues

JAMMU, Mar 23: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Yogesh Sawhney, ex-MLA Jammu East met the Chief Minister’s Advisor, Nasir Aslam Wani today and discussed various developmental concerns of the Jammu East constituency with him.
Sawhney highlighted key issues related to Public Health Engineering (PHE), infrastructural development, and the urgent need to uplift the outskirts of Jammu East. He was accompanied by ex-Counselor Shama Akhtar, Haneef Ahmed, Lambardar Madan Lal Sharma, Haider Ali, Mohd Hanief, Mohd Arief, Nizam Din, Saif Ali and Muzaffar Hussain.
The delegation requested the Government to expedite pending projects and address grievances affecting residents. Sawhney extended gratitude to the Advisor for listening to their concerns and providing them reassurance that they will address them.
During meeting, Sawhney emphasized the dire need for improvement in water supply under PHE, particularly in areas facing acute shortages. He pointed out that many localities in Jammu East have been struggling with inadequate drinking water, creating hardships for the common people adding that water scarcity continues to be a major concern for the residents. He called for the modernization of water pipelines and the expansion of PHE services to meet the growing demands of the population.
Addressing the development agenda, Sawhney stressed the importance of infrastructure projects that have either been delayed or neglected. He pointed out that roads, drainage systems, and public utilities in several parts of Jammu East require immediate attention. Development should not be confined to a few areas; the outskirts of Jammu East also need equal focus, he added.
The former Minister also raised concerns over the slow pace of urban expansion and the neglect of certain pockets within Jammu East that have been left out of developmental plans. He urged the Government to adopt a more inclusive approach to ensure balanced growth across the constituency. The Advisor was requested to take up these issues with the concerned departments and facilitate prompt action, Sawhney said.
